Choosing an Engagement Ring

When buying an Engagement Ring

Plan ahead: Leave enough time before you propose. If you want a custom designed ring or a particular stone set in a certain way, leave a couple of weeks so this can be ordered.

Determine Your Budget: Your jeweller will be able to show you a selection of rings within your price range.

Look At Your Partner's Style: Take note of what your partner wears or if they have ever talked about types of rings before. This will give you an idea of what ring might suit them.

Bring a Friend: Bring someone along with you who knows your partner well enough to help you pick out that perfect ring.

Ring Size: If you can get a ring that your partner wears on their wedding ring finger that would be the best way to get their ring size. If not, most rings can be resized after they have been bought.

Insurance: Check that your home insurance covers the engagement ring or buy additional 'all risk' jewellery insurance.

When buying Wedding Rings

Plan ahead: Order your rings about eight weeks in advance of the wedding.

Determine Your Budget: Your jeweller will then be able to show you a selection of rings within your price range.

Matching Your Engagement Ring: Some wedding rings can be shaped in such a way that they sit flush with your engagement ring. Ensure you ask your jeweller about this when buying your wedding ring.

Matching Sets: Matching sets are available so that you and your partner have the same style of wedding band.

Bridal Party: It is sometimes nice to show your thanks with a small gift, either for your bridesmaids or for your husband to be.

Insurance: Check that your home insurance covers the wedding rings or buy additional 'all risk' jewellery insurance.
